KANYE WEST

While reports are still early, mega rap star Kanye West’s 808s and Heartbreak is expected to outsell LudacrisTheater of the Mind by close to 300,000 units.

According to industry website HitsDailyDouble.com, Ye’s fourth project should fend off all newcomers and reach No. 1 on next week’s Billboard Top 200 charts. Reports are showing the Grammy winning rapper easily pulling out somewhere between the 450,000 to 500,000 albums sold mark in his first seven days in stores. The new album will be Ye’s first-ever release without a Parental Advisory sticker and aims to offer fans an alternative look by dishing out R&B sounding tracks and a majority of auto-tuned verses.

Luda’s sixth solo project, Theater of the Mind, is expected to register around 225,000 scanned discs. While not securing that No. 1 spot, the Southern rapper is expected to land at No. 3 on the charts. With both albums dropping last Monday (November 24), SOHH spoke with Luda to find out what he thought about matching up with another platinum-selling rap star. “This is the busiest shopping weekend of the entire year,”

Luda told SOHH. “People are going to go out and they’re going to get two albums, hopefully they will get both albums. You have some

Luda fans. You have some Kanye fans. You have some

Luda and Kanye fans but what’s important is that you go out and get some good music.”
Final sales for next week’s SoundScan will be reported on Tuesday (December 2).

WHITNEY & BOBBY, PART 2?

Friday, November 28th, 2008

Whitney Houston isn’t singing “I Will Always Love You” to ex-hubby Bobby Brown.

E! News has confirmed a statement issued by the 45-year-old singer’s publicist that puts to rest rumors of a romantic reunion between the formerly tumultuous lovebirds. Nancy Seltzer called a report in Wednesday’s Chicago Sun-Times “a complete fabrication.”

The article said Whitney and Bobby, who divorced in April 2007, were seen in Georgia enjoying an intimate dinner. Houston and Brown were married 14 years and have a daughter, Bobbi Kristina. During their marriage, allegations of abuse, infidelity, and drug and alcohol arrests plagued the couple.

Whitney has recently been romantically linked to 27-year-old singer/rapper Ray J. She is expected to release a much-awaited comeback album in the coming weeks.

Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade Gets Rick Rolled

Friday, November 28th, 2008

We were spending some quality pre-turkey time taking in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, with the Miley and the Snoopy and such, when the Cartoon Network’s float, featuring the demented denizens of Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, rolled into Herald Square…and then got Rick Rolled by the Astley himself.

Now this is better than pumpkin pie.

THIS IS THE ORIGINAL RICK ASTLEY, THE BRITISH ONE (OR TWO) HIT WONDER IN THE ‘80′S…ALL MY 30 AND OVER PARTY PEOPLE REMEMBER HIM, DON’T BE ASHAMED!!

LOOK, I KNOW IT’S NOT HIP-HOP OR HOLLYWOOD, BUT THIS IS AWESOME…SIMPLY AWESOME.

THIS GUY GRADUATED IN 2 1/2 YEARS, A POSSIBLE NFL PICK, AND WANTS TO BECOME A SURGEON AND DO HIS PRACTICE IN IMPOVERISHED COUNTRIES.

IN A WORLD OF PACMAN JONES, T.O., AND CHAD “OCHO-CINCO”, THIS IS REFRESHING AND INSPIRATIONAL. OH, BY THE WAY, THIS IS AFTER 6 OF HIS TEAMMATES WERE SUSPENDED FROM THE TEAM FOR VARIOUS CRIMES OFF THE FIELD.

AS I SAID, SIMPLY AWESOME!

Ludacris + T-Pain on SNL

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

Christopher “Ludacris” Bridges and T-Pain appeared on Saturday Night Live last weekend.  Their sketch (above) mocks Luda’s decision to replace T-Pain with a white rapper named “Blizzard”.  Not really hilarious, but worth a watch…

 CHRI-HANNA

Is Chrihanna our new Power Couple?

Chris Brown racked up 3 American Music Awards last night–beating out vets and #1 chart killas like Lil Wayne, Kanye, Jay-Z, and others. Rihanna beat out people like Mariah, Mary J. Blige for her 2 awards.

And neither Chris nor Rih Rih is known to have mass rave reviews about their singing or performance abilities. Yeah, Chris does his thing for the Pop N B stage. And Rihanna does her thing–fashion wise–for pretty much the same crowd.

And I’m sure their unsecret secret couple status is doing nothing but propelling them more into the power spotlight. But folks had their panties in a wad that youngins like them could possibly beat out legends in the game.

A lot of folks were pissy that these two won last night. Either they were just really deserving of the sparkly awards, or they won due to the AMAs votes being fan based. We all know 13 year old girls vote their asses off with thier text messages and phones and internet. And grown ass folks like me are not wasting text messages to vote for MJB on a damn awards show.

But maybe that alone means it’s time to crown a new King and Queen of the entertainment world. Even if neither are established actors yet. Maybe it’s the times we live in. Does Celebrity trump well rounded experience and talent?
